The Mission of the Rush Springs Public Schools Counseling Program is to provide access to the highest quality counseling services to all students, Grades PK-12. Through a wide variety of services, students will develop the skills and tools to empower them to be life-long learners and make a difference in their communities. Counselors will advocate for ALL STUDENTS in order that they have the opportunity for success in ACADEMICS, PERSONAL/SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT and POSTSECONDARY LIFE.
The VISION of the Rush Springs Public Schools Counseling Program is for ALL students to be prepared to make their way and be contributors in our changing world. We believe that in order to achieve success in their future endeavors, our students, as future adults, must receive multi-faceted development academically, personally, and socially. It is through the collaboration of the school, parents/guardians, students, and the community that we send our students out to be contributing citizens of the world.
Rush Springs Public Schools believes confidentiality between counselor and student to be an essential part of the counseling process. However, there are circumstances in which this confidentiality has its limit. According to the American School Counselor Association’s Ethical Standard A.9.a (2016), counselors should “Inform parents/guardians and/or appropriate authorities when a student poses a serious and foreseeable risk of harm to self or others.”
This includes but is not limited to
1. Physical and/or Sexual Abuse
3. Sexual Harrassment
4. Desire to harm others
5. Desire to self-harm
